HAMLET — Two people have been hospitalized following a shooting at City Lake late Friday night.
Officers with the Hamlet Police Department responded to a call of someone being shot at the lake around 11:40 p.m. June 7, according to Maj. Hudson Chitwood.
When officers arrived, Chitwood said they found a man with a gunshot wound to the head and a woman with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Both victims were treated at the scene by officers and EMTs before being taken to hospitals, Chitwood said.
As of Monday, both victims were still hospitalized.
Although the victims’ names have not been released, Chitwood said they are both from Rockingham.
Chitwood said the incident appears to be domestic violence-related and there is no threat to the public.
The case is still under investigation.
