OBITUARY: Joe John Cox

Joe John Cox, 87, of Rockingham, passed away on April 29, 2024.

He was born in Troy to the late Irene and Wade Cox.

Joe was a devoted husband of 61 years to Juanita Gallimore Cox and a loving father to Pam Patterson (Rodney) and Michael Cox (Lynne). He cherished his grandchildren Kylee, Bryson (Cassidy), Meredith (Jacob), Allen (Taylor), and great-grandchildren Mallory, Leamon, Dorothy, Alton, Alley and Myles.

Joe is survived by his sisters, Shirley Webb (Clarence), Marie Thompson (Steve), Betty Lassiter, Becky Russel, and brother Howard Cox; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended Gallimore family.

He attended Troy High School and later Asheboro Technical College. Joe had a successful career as a purchasing agent, working 29 and 1/2 years at Russell Hosiery Mill before retiring from Laurel Hill Paper Company.

In his free time, Joe enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Norman Presbyterian Church.

Joe Cox will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 3, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Norman Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jack Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in the Norman Cemetery.
