OBITUARY: Samantha Francis Snell

Samantha Francis Snell, 37, of Rockingham, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 at her home.

She was born Sept. 8, 1986 in Richmond County, daughter of Effie Jo Billings Snell and the late Larry Samuel Snell.

Sam, as she was affectionately known, was a precious, sweet person. She was a wonderful daughter, sister and aunt. Sam never met a stranger and was kind to everyone she met.

Though Samantha thought nature was scary, she loved animals, they all were like the Disney movie animals to her.

She was curious, always asking questions, and always wanting to know the Ins and Outs and Whys.

She was supportive, always able to find the positive. If there wasn’t, she’d find a way to make you laugh. She believed laughter was good medicine.

She loved music and knew all the good ones, and especially the classics; impressively though is how she knew all their backstories.

She loved to sing and would sing all day when possible. Most times, she’d get so engulfed, she’d not even notice or care who was around. When she was happy, she loved silly dancing to her favorites and loved getting others to join in.

Her favorite song was “Dig” by Incubus. Not only for its quality but for its depth, for the hope and comfort and reassurance it offered.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Samuel Snell.

Sam is survived by her mother, Effie Snell of Rockingham; sisters, Jennifer Paul (P.J.), Leslie Snell and Brooke Snell, all of Rockingham; and nieces, Coraline Belle and Lydia Snell.

Services are being planned for a later date.

“We all have a sickness that cleverly attaches and multiplies, no matter how we try. Yes, you are my friend, we all have someone that digs at us, at least we dig each other.”

Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Snell family.
