PHOTOS: Hamlet at Davidson Post 8

LEXINGTON — The Hamlet American Legion baseball team improved to 3-0 on the young season Thursday.

A two-homer, five-RBI performance from JD Scarbrough fueled a 7-3 road win over Davidson Post 8.

Jason Walker collected his second win of the season on the mound following a four-inning shutout showing. He had four Ks and gave up just two hits.

Throwing one inning of relief each were John Carre, Landon Taylor and James Eason.

Adding to Scarbrough’s clutch performance, Maddox Locklear belted a game-high three hits. Eason and Isaac Hinshaw each had two hits and one RBI.

Hamlet scored five runs in the second inning and added its final two runs in the top of the fifth. Scarbrough had a three-run and a two-run homer.

Hamlet (3-0) plays its first home game of the season Friday at Memorial Park. Post 49 will try to sweep non-conference Chatham Post 182, beginning at 7 p.m.

Prior to the game, the 1987 state championship Hamlet baseball team will be recognized at 6:30 p.m.
