HAMLET — A productive start to the season continued for the Post 49 baseball team Friday.

In its home opener, which featured a special recognition of the 1987 state title team, the Hamlet American Legion baseball team tallied another win.

Extending its winning streak to four games, Post 49 defeated Chatham Post 182 by a final score of 5-4.

Mason Konen (four innings, six strikeouts) and Riley Brown (three innings, five strikeouts) earned the win and the save, respectively.

Hamlet took a 2-0 lead after the first inning and followed an inning later by tying Post 182 with three runs apiece.

A sacrifice fly by Landon Taylor and a run scored on a balk gave Hamlet enough of a cushion in the third inning to hold on for the win.
