ASHEBORO — A productive first inning Monday didn’t hold up for the Hamlet American Legion baseball team.
On the road at Randolph Post 45, Hamlet lost its second straight game by a final score of 5-1.
An Austin Mooring RBI single in the first inning scored Isaac Hinshaw (single) to give Post 49 an early lead against starter Drake Purvis.
Getting the nod on the hill for Hamlet was Jeremiah Ritter, who allowed three runs (one earned) in three innings of work.
Post 45 scored solo runs in five different innings, using three sacrifice flies and two RBI singles.
Also pitching for Hamlet were Robbie Peed and Brady Fowler. Hinshaw had a double and a single to match Mooring for a team-high two hits. Riley Brown also had a single.

Hamlet (5-2) will play Rowan County Post 342 Tuesday at Catawba College beginning at 7 p.m.
