ROCKINGHAM — Another summer sports camp is set to begin at Richmond Senior High School this week.

The annual Raider cheer camp, which hosted over 110 campers last summer, will run from Monday, July 8 to Thursday, July 11 at the high school.

Hosted by the Richmond varsity and junior varsity cheer teams, the cost for each camper is $75 and includes a t-shirt.

This summer’s camp is open to interested participants who are entering pre-K through eighth grade.

Registration will be open prior to the start of each day. The daily sessions will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Richmond’s gymnasium.

Head cheerleading coach Meredith Hood, who has been at the helm of the program since 2008, said campers will need to bring their own drinks, money for the concession stand and most importantly their “Raider spirit.”

The first three days of camp will teach campers the fundamentals of the sport, which will culminate in a final routine that will be performed Thursday.

Open to the public, Thursday’s cheer camp performances will begin at 10 a.m.
