Ernest Felton Wallace Jr, 62, of Rockingham, passed away July 4, 2024, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Ernest was born Oct. 21, 1961, in Rockingham and was a son of the late Ernest Felton Wallace Sr. and Gwen Helton Wallace.
Ernest was raised in Rockingham and was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School, class of 1980. He worked in fiberglass and briefly with Tartan Yachts where he discovered his love for repairing boats. For many years he would go on to work for Campbell Soup as a mechanic. Outside of work, Ernest was a jack of all trades and was a phenomenal handyman. He enjoyed fishing and helping people and his family.
Ernest is survived by his wife of seven blissful years, Regina Johnson Wallace; children, Ashley, Madyson and Stephan; bonus children, Josh and Tara; grandchildren “Sweet Pea” and “Little Man;” siblings, Sharon, Kim, Myron and Dana. Ernest also leaves behind many friends all of whom will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held in Ernest’s honor, Sunday, July 7 at 1 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet with Robbie Yow officiating. The family will greet friends for visitation after the service.
