DEBBY DOWNER: Some Richmond County events canceled as tropical storm approaches

ROCKINGHAM — With up to 12 inches of rain expected over the next few days from Tropical Storm Debby, several events slated for the weekend have been called off.

Hamlet Depot and Museums announced Tuesday that TGIFridays on Main, a twice-monthly food truck event, has been canceled for this week.

Steve’s Wings for Humanity, a local group that is trying to curb the opioid epidemic, announced that it’s annual rally and candlelight vigil scheduled for Saturday has been canceled. The group said they will try to hold the vigil at a later date this month.

Rockingham Dragway also announced that the test and tune scheduled for Friday evening has been canceled. Dragway officials have yet to make a determination on Diesels at the Rock, slated for Saturday.

As of now, Carolina Geek Fest at Cole Auditorium is still a go for Saturday.
