Thomas Harrington Parsons, 62, of Rockingham, passed away on Aug. 8, 2024 at his home.
Tommy was born Sept. 7, 1961 in Savannah, Georgia. He graduated from Richmond Senior High School in 1979 and later joined the Navy where he was stationed in San Diego, California.
Tommy worked with N.C. State Extension Service, Abbott Laboratory, Owen Illinois, and Griffin Toyota of Rockingham.
He was married to Norma Lassiter, and soon they had his only son, Bryan. Bryan was the source of much pride and joy in his life. Bryan’s wife Lucy, and their two children, Amelia and James, brought him much happiness.
He loved being outdoors, fishing, collecting arrowheads and spending time with his family.
One of Tommy’s passions was listening to music. He played guitar and would spend hours playing and listening to his record collection.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William P. Parsons and Louise H. Parsons.
A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Stanley Stogner officiating with military honors. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
He is survived by his son, Bryan Parsons (Lucy) of Raleigh; brothers, Hill Parsons of Lexington, Kentucky, Bill Parsons (Vilma) of Pinebluff; sisters, Mary Lou Parsons of Raleigh and Anna Hodges (Robbie) of Rockingham; granddaughter, Amelia Parsons, and grandson, James Parsons; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He had many close friends in Richmond County. He cherished their friendship. He will be missed by all that got to know him. His family wishes to thank all who reached out to him when his health started to decline. He was a loving grandfather, father, brother and friend and will be missed.
