Geneva Beverly Freeman, 89, of Rockingham, North Carolina, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024 surrounded by her loving daughters.
Geneva was born on June 2, 1935 in Rockingham, North Carolina, to Spurgeon and Grace Beverly.
Surviving are her daughters, Wanda (Philip) Bledsoe, Dianne (Oscar) Moore, Nancy Napier, Linda (Jason) Locklear, Sandra (Rickey) Jones; her grandchildren, Brent (Chasity) Bledsoe, Stacy Bledsoe, Scott Allen, Jami (Shawn) Harris, Jaylin Locklear; her great-grandchildren, Madison Bledsoe, Mason Davidson, Dylan Harris, Aubrey Allen, Deacon Richardson; and her sister Lila Lipford; also, many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, the Rev. Sandy Freeman Jr.; her parents, Spurgeon and Grace Beverly; her siblings, Annie Ruth Deese, Wesley Beverly, Louis Beverly and Alice (David) Mishoe; and great-granddaughter Kameryn Harris.
Geneva Freeman was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was also a loyal friend to many. She was a homemaker and a pastor’s wife. She married the Rev. Sandy Freeman Jr. on Jan. 3, 1953. They were married for 70 years.
In her later years, she began a prayer card ministry. She would send them out to family and friends as words of encouragement to let them know she was thinking of them.
She loved going shopping and collecting various things. She loved gifting little items to people. She was a quiet person, but yet very strong when she needed to be. She was such a loving, caring, sweet lady and a blessing to have ever been able to say you knew her sweet and kind soul.
There will be a graveside service at Eastside Cemetery, Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024 at 2 p.m. The family will receive family and friends immediately following the service and at the family home. All are welcome to attend.
