Rockingham Police charge man with felony sex crimes

ROCKINGHAM — A man is set to have his first court appearance Thursday on charges related to allegations of child sexual abuse.

Richmond County Jail records show that 37-year-old Sergio Louis Suarez is facing nine felony charges.

Those charges include three counts each of: taking indecent liberties with a child; statutory sex offense with a child by an adult; and sex act by a substitute parent or custodian.

Jail records show Suarez was booked at 6:10 p.m. Sept. 11 and, as of this writing, remains in jail on a $300,000 secured bond.

According to jail records, Suarez was charged and arrested by the Rockingham Police Department.

Online records appear to show Suarez has no other pending charges or prior convictions in North Carolina.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
