ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior High School junior varsity football team earned a shutout victory Thursday.
Beginning Sandhills Athletic Conference play at home, the JV Raiders blanked Southern Lee High School 49-0 behind a running clock.
It was the team’s fourth straight victory and third shutout during that winning streak.
Leading 34-0 at halftime, Richmond recorded six defensive takeaways and scored six rushing touchdowns and one passing score.
Ty Covington and Donovan Jones each had two rushing scores and BJ Hinson recorded two total TDs (one rushing, one passing).
Collin Hill had the other rushing score and Jake Gardner hit five-of-six point-after attempts.

The JV Raiders (4-1, 1-0 SAC) host Pinecrest next Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
