ROCKINGHAM — A season-high performance during last week’s Sandhills Athletic Conference tournament has named sophomore Jamyia Lindsey as the Official Richmond County Female Athlete of the Week presented by HWY 55.
Playing just her fourth game of the season, Lindsey led the No. 4 Lady Raiders in scoring against No. 5 Lee County High School.
Despite falling to the Lady Yellow Jackets and seeing the team’s season end, this is Lindsey’s fourth career recognition.

“SEASON HIGH” WITH JAMYIA LINDSEY
Earlier this month during Richmond’s senior night win over Lee County, Lindsey took the floor to a round of applause as she returned to the court for the first time since last summer. An ACL injury kept her sidelined, but she made an impact during Richmond’s final four games.
Playing more and more minutes each game off the bench, Lindsey scored 19 points in the team’s regular-season finale at Scotland High School on Feb. 10.
Her best performance of the season came against Lee County in the first round of the Sandhills Athletic tournament. Although Richmond fell short 48-41, Lindsey netted a season and team-high 21 points.
In the opening quarter, Lindsey scored seven of Richmond’s 10 points to jump ahead 10-8. One free throw was followed by a drive in the paint and a made and-one opportunity.
With 2:20 left on the clock in the first, Lindsey hit a three-pointer from the top of the arc, one of her five triples in the game.
Two free throws in the second gave Lindsey nine points at the half, with Richmond down 23-16.
A three-pointer from the left corner with 27 seconds left in the third helped keep Richmond within 10 points entering the fourth.
Lindsey netted her final nine points, all on three-balls, in the final eight minutes. Hitting two from the top of the arc and the other from the right side, Lindsey pulled Richmond within three points, 44-41, with 2:24 to play.
In four games this season, Lindsey averaged 14.8 points per game.
