Rockingham Police accuse woman of stealing from mother

ROCKINGHAM — A fraud investigation has led to a woman facing more than sixty felony charges.

Investigators with the Rockingham Police Department accuse Julie Crenshaw Jacobs of taking around $13,000 over time from her mother’s bank account without permission. Police say the mother has since passed away.

Jacobs was arrested on July 21 and charged with 64 counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and one count of exploitation of an elderly adult.

According to the RPD, Jacobs was given a $100,000 bond, but does not specify if it was secured or unsecured.

On Wednesday afternoon, Jacobs did not appear in online records with the Richmond County Jail of the N.C. Court System, so her court date is not known.

Jacobs appears to have no prior convictions in the state.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
