ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior High School junior varsity baseball team is still searching for its first win of the season.

Returning to the diamond Saturday for the first time since March 26, the JV Raiders lost 20-4 to non-conference Mooresville High School.

The game was called after four and two-third innings due to the time limit.

The JV Blue Devils dotted the scoreboard with five runs in the first, second and fifth frames. They also scored three runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth.

Richmond plated a pair of runs in both the bottom of the first and fourth innings.

Michael Osentowski started on the mound for the JV Raiders and Preston Fann threw in relief.

Trailing 5-0 in the bottom of the first, Richmond loaded the bases with one out. Andrae Streeter recorded a run batted in when he was hit by a pitch.

Fann, who drew a walk, scored the JV Raiders’ second run of the inning two at-bats later on a passed ball.

The two runs scored by Richmond in the fourth were a result of similar plate appearances. Again with the bases loaded, Jake Veach drew a free pass and Fann was plunked by a pitch.

The JV Raiders (0-8-1) return to the diamond Tuesday at non-conference South Mecklenburg High School. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
