ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County will welcome runners from all over the United States this weekend for the 14th annual Hinson Lake 24-Hour Ultra Classic.

The endurance race will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday and continue through 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

The certified course consists of the 1.5-mile inner loop that circles the lake and is a USA Track and Field sanctioned event.

Runners from all over the US as well as a few from other countries have been known to participate in this unique race. They seem to enjoy the location as they are never more than 1.5 miles away from any of their needs.

Tents line the lakeside with folks encouraging the runners.

There were 500 available slots which have all been filled.
