ROCKINGHAM — Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one individual dead and another injured.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 in the parking lot between Cook Out and Captain D’s on East Broad Avenue, according to investigators with the Rockingham Police Department.

One person was killed and another was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

The RPD has not yet released the names or ages of the two victims.

As of 6 p.m. the case was still under investigation and no charges had been filed.

The RO will have more information as it becomes available.

This is at least the third shooting — second fatal — in Richmond County this week.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Oct. 26 homicide on Billy Covington Road.

An 18-year-old from Moore County has been charged in a shooting that occurred earlier that same day in Hoffman.
