MCCOLL, S.C. — Two Richmond County residents were killed in a shooting outside a Marlboro County, South Carolina, nightclub over the weekend.

WMBF reported Monday that the victims were identified by the Marlboro County coroner as 31-year-old Ronnie Oxendine and 23-year-old Bria Byrd, both of Richmond County.

(Note: A Facebook search appears to show Byrd’s name as “Brianna.”)

Citing the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office, WPDE reports that Oxendine and Byrd were shot, just after 2 a.m. Sunday outside Club Amnesia near the state line.

Three others were also reportedly injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.

WPDE reports that there was allegedly a sixth victim, but that hadn’t been confirmed.

The shooting reportedly happened in a parking lot across the street from the club, where two off-duty deputies with the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office were working security.

Investigators said there appeared to be multiple shooters, who left the scene at a high rate of speed toward North Carolina, WMBF reports. Deputies also believe all those involved are from North Carolina and knew each other.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting with the investigation, as are law enforcement agencies from North Carolina, according to WPDE.

According to WMBF, the coroner will perform autopsies on Byrd’s and Oxendine’s bodies on Friday.

Oxendine’s obituary, published Monday, from Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory reads, in part: “He was a good friend, always willing to help; he actually died trying to help others.”
