BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. — Four men have been charged in a South Carolina nightclub shooting last weekend that left one person dead and three others injured.

According to a press release from the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to The Spot, a club on U.S. 15-401, around 2:35 a.m. Sunday, July 24, in reference to a shooting.

When they arrived, deputies were reportedly told that four victims had been taken by personal vehicles to surrounding hospitals.

One of the victims, 28-year-old Lancetausha Pouncy of Bennettsville, later died, according to the sheriff’s office. The other victims are still listed in serious condition.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was called to process the scene.

In the following days, investigators arrested and charged four Bennettsville men in the shooting:

  • 28-year-old Ra-Kem Dal-Von Townsend, AKA “Rah Rah” on July 26
  • 21-year-old Cody Wayne Erwin, AKA “Loaf” on July 27
  • 25-year-old Atais Ja Ni Taylor, AKA “Baby Tay” on July 28
  • 25-year-old D Shiem Tymaude Mcclean on July 29

All four are charged with attempted murder and possesion of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Erwin reportedly had a firearm and more than an ounce of marijuana in his possession when he was arrested. He was also charged with unlawful carry of a pistol and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

The four defendants are being held in the Marlboro County Detention Center. Bond has been denied for Townsend and Erwin.

The sheriff’s office expects more arrests to be made in this case. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 843-479-5605.

Marlboro County court records show Erwin has three pending charges from 2021: aggravated breach of the peace, unlawful carry of a pistol and obstructing justice.

Mcclean was convicted in 2020 of second-degree domestic violence, records show. Last month, prosecutors dropped a charge against him of unlawful carry of a pistol.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Last year, two Richmond County residents were killed in a club shooting in McColl, South Carolina. All five suspects charged were from Rockingham.
