HAMLET — Police allege that an employee of a local senior home took money from several patients.

Officials from Hamlet House, an assisted living facility on Freeman Mill Road, called the Hamlet Police Department last year to report that a resident had money missing, according to Lt. E. Roman.

During a five-month investigation, which included serving search warrants, Roman said he obtained arrest warrants for Kim McCaskill, charging her with eight felony counts each of obtaining property by false pretenses and larceny by an employee.

Roman said Hamlet House was cooperative in the investigation and added he was assisted by the Cheraw Police Department.

McCaskill turned herself in Friday morning and was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond, according to Roman.

The investigation is ongoing and Roman encourages anyone who believes their loved one may be a victim to call him at 910-582-2551.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
