Bell stolen from Richmond County church recovered; suspects still unknown

ROCKINGHAM — A bell stolen from a Richmond County church has been found.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that a bell stolen from Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church earlier this week has been recovered.

The sheriff’s office reported Tuesday that the brick casing around the bell had been destroyed and the bell was stolen sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Although the bell is back, the sheriff’s office is still seeking information for those responsible for the theft and property damage.

Sheriff Mark Gulledge is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects.
