HAMLET POLICE: Shooting suspects turn selves in

HAMLET— Two suspects in a weekend shooting that sent a man to the hospital turned themselves in on Wednesday.

The Hamlet Police Department made the announcement in a Facebook post Thursday morning.

Investigators believe that 22-year-old Tyrese Rashad Davis and an unnamed juvenile shot a man who was walking along Spring Street near Dollar General around 3:14 Saturday afternoon, Feb. 26.

The victim, who has not been named, was taken to an undisclosed hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, according to Hamlet PD.

Davis was named as a suspect on Sunday and police issued a wanted poster on Tuesday.

Richmond County Jail records show Davis was booked at 6:39 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, charged with one count each of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

He is being held on a $375,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 17, jail records show.

Police said the juvenile is facing the same charges.

Online state records show Davis has no other pending charges or previous convictions.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
