Kannapolis man charged with kidnapping Ellerbe pre-teen

ROCKINGHAM — A 19-year-old is in the Rowan County Jail, charged in a case involving a girl from Ellerbe who went missing earlier in the week.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has charged 19-year-old Brandon Kenneth Gaddy of Kannapolis with the kidnapping of 11-year-old Kaylee Lampley.

Richmond County Crime Stoppers posted to its Facebook page around 6 p.m. Monday, saying Lampley had last been seen around 9 that morning.

The following day, investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Lampley had been found safely. According to a report from WBTV, they were tracked to an apartment in Salisbury around 6 a.m. and Lampley was unharmed.

Citing police in Salisbury, WBTV reports that investigators believe Gaddy may have met Lampley online, and gone to her home to pick her up.

Gaddy is charged with first-degree kidnapping and is being held under a $125,000 secured bond.

According to the sheriff’s office, Gaddy is still in the Rowan County Jail because investigators in Salisbury are still working the case and more charges could be pending.

Gaddy is scheduled to appear in a Richmond County courtroom June 10.

Online records show Gaddy has no other pending charges or previous adult convictions in North Carolina.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
