Man charged in East Rockingham arson

ROCKINGHAM — A man has been charged with setting fire to an East Rockingham home in September.

According to an arrest warrant, issued Sept. 25, 28-year-old Albran Tray Locklear, of Mill Road is accused of “maliciously” burning a home at 153 Aleo 9th Avenue sometime between Sept. 20 and 24.

Richmond County Jail records, which show Locklear’s middle name spelled “Trey,” indicate he was booked late the night of Dec. 18 on a charge of second-degree arson.

He is being held under a $100,000 secured bond.

Jail records show Locklear is also facing a felony probation violation with an additional $15,000 secured bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court for the arson charge on Jan. 4, 2021.

Online court records show Locklear has another appearance scheduled for Jan. 29 on the probation violation and a felony charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Locklear was convicted Sept. 10 on felony charges of receiving a stolen vehicle and two counts of larceny from the person.

He was given a 24-month suspended sentence.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
