ROCKINGHAM — A man with more than two dozen pending charges is now accused of stealing a golf cart from a local hospital.
According to a magistrate’s order, 33-year-old Gregory Eugene Locklear, of Durham Street in Hamlet, stole a gas-powered 1996 Yamaha golf cart belonging to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond on Sept. 13.
He was arrested that day and charged with one count each of felony larceny and larceny of a motor vehicle.
Locklear was booked into the Richmond County Jail and released the following day on a $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 1.
Online court records show Locklear has 25 pending charges including multiple counts of breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods, possession of burglary tools and trespassing.
His court dates on the other charges are on Oct. 1, Oct. 15, Nov. 2, Nov. 5 and Nov. 19.
Locklear was first convicted of simple assault in 2008, according to records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction.
In 2011, he was convicted of misdemeanor larceny and common law forgery.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
