ROCKINGHAM — A man will likely face charges following a standoff with deputies Thursday night in Roberdel.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a home on Roberdel Road after a man called 911 saying there were people at his home shooting.

While enroute, deputies were reportedly receiving updates from the 911 Center that the man was “acting strange” and couldn’t give descriptions of the alleged shooters because they were being helped by deputies.

When the deputies arrived, the man — who has yet to be named — reportedly refused to come outside. Deputies reportedly contacted him by phone, but were unable to convince him to come out.

He also allegedly fired several shots at the deputies.

Deputies reportedly surrounded the home and the RCSO Special Response Team was called to the scene.

During the standoff, deputies reportedly learned of the possibility of a woman being inside the home and were “uncertain of her condition.”

According to the sheriff’s office, the SRT forced entry into the home and took the man into custody. A female was reportedly found unharmed inside.

The man is reportedly being evaluated and investigators will seek warrants once he is cleared.

No deputies were injured during the call, according to the sheriff’s office.
