ROCKINGHAM — Students and staff of one local middle school were temporarily evacuated Wednesday following a reported bomb threat.

According to Kylie DeWitt, public information officer for Richmond County Schools, a bomb threat was called in to Rockingham Middle School around 9:17 a.m. Nov. 15.

DeWitt said students and staff were evacuated from the building.

Local law enforcement responded and swept the building before giving clearance for classes to resume, according to DeWitt. She said they were outside for about 30 minutes.
