Police investigating triple shooting in Hamlet

HAMLET — Police are investigating a triple shooting early Friday morning.

According to Chief Dennis Brown, officers with the Hamlet Police Department responded around 1:14 a.m. to a call regarding gunshot victims on Thomas Street.

The officers reportedly found three males had been shot.

EMS responded and all three victims were airlifted to different hospitals, Brown said, adding he last heard they were in critical condition.

HPD was assisted by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Brown said the department was coordinating its efforts with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.

A spokesperson with the SBI said the ages were 17, 18 and 20.

The investigation is ongoing.
