POLICE: Rockingham shooting victim dies from injuries

ROCKINGHAM — The victim of a shooting last week died from his injuries over the weekend, according to investigators with the Rockingham Police Department.

Detective Clint Neeley said Monday evening that 18-year-old Zocoreyn Allen, of Rockingham, passed away on Saturday.

Allen was reportedly sitting inside a vehicle in the area of Armistead Street around 6:15 p.m. March 30 when he was shot.

The unnamed driver of the vehicle reportedly left the scene and drove Allen to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond. Allen was later transported to an undisclosed hospital.

Police reportedly recovered numerous shell casings from an undisclosed caliber of firearm at the scene.

That shooting, in addition to another that happened nearby on Hunter Circle, is still under investigation. No one was injured in the latter incident.
