Police seek 2 for shooting in Hamlet

HAMLET — Investigators are asking for help locating two men wanted in connection to a recent shooting.

The Hamlet Police Department on Monday posted photos to its Facebook page of Ismael Sanchez and Henry Bethea, saying both have active warrants.

Officers reportedly responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Taylor and Fisher streets around 7:35 p.m. on June 17.

Investigators say no injuries were reported, but there was property damage from the shooting.

Sanchez and Bethea are each facing several charges, including multiple counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

According to the post, detectives wouldn’t have gotten far in the investigation without help from residents.

“This is a great example of how citizens and law enforcement can work together as one to create a safer environment for all,” the post reads.
The case is still under investigation.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Sanchez was convicted in 2018 on two counts of possessing stolen goods. Bethea has no prior convictions in the state.

All defendants facing criminal charges is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
