RCSO: 1 killed, 2 injured in shooting outside Rockingham

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has received no official reports of attempted abductions, according to Sheriff James Clemmons.

ROCKINGHAM — One person was killed and two were injured in a shooting Monday night.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call of two people possibly being shot on Ellen Road, near Richmond Senior High School, around 10:55 p.m.

When the deputies arrived on scene, one victim was reportedly receiving first aid from bystanders. The deputies reportedly took over until EMS arrived and took the victim to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hosptial-Richmond, where the victim was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses reportedly told deputies that one other person had been shot and had already been taken to the hospital.

According to the sheriff’s office, there were two people with gunshot wounds in the emergency room.

Names of the victims have not yet been released.
