RCSO: Meth, fentanyl found during search of Hamlet home

HAMLET — A man is facing multiple drug charges after investigators reportedly found cocaine, fentanyl and meth at his home.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the Community Impact Team executed a search warrant Friday, March 22 at the Hamlet home of 26-year-old William Ethan Garner.

The investigation into Garner was initiated by “complaints of illegal narcotics,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators reportedly found and seized 6.6 grams of cocaine, 2.1 grams of fentanyl, 1.9 grams of methamphetamine, and “assorted amounts of drug paraphernalia.”

A shotgun and handgun of unspecified caliber were also seized during the search, according to the sheriff’s office.

Garner was arrested at his home and charged with: three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; three counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Richmond County Jail where, as of late Monday morning, he was still being held on a $25,000 secured bond. Garner is scheduled to appear in court April 11.

Online records appear to show Garner has no other pending charges or prior convictions in North Carolina.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
