REPORT: 7 handguns, PS5, games stolen from Rockingham home

ROCKINGHAM — A resident of a neighborhood rife with crime recently reported the theft of a collection of handguns and video games.

According to an incident report filed by the Rockingham Police Department, a Cauthen Drive resident reported on Aug. 9 that someone had broken into his home and stolen six 9mm handguns — two Taurus/GC3s, two Glock 19Xs, a Glock 45 and a Smith & Wesson SD40 VE — a Ruger 57 5.7×28, a box of 9mm bullets and a box of unspecified gauge shotgun shells.

The alleged victim also reported the perpetrator had stolen an Playstation 5 and copies of several video games: Madden NFL 21; Call of Duty; NBA 2K21; and Red Dead Redemption 2.

According to the report, the seven firearms and console were entered into the National Crime Information Center database.

On Wednesday, the case was still listed as active.

There were also break-ins reported on Cauthen Drive on July 16 and 19.

The department has had a substation on Cauthen Drive for more than a decade.

Despite that, the area was the site of the city’s first of four homicides earlier this year.

On Jan. 14, Dominique Rashad Little died after being shot while sitting in a Range Rover on Cauthen Drive. The RO is not aware of an arrest being made in this case. The department announced the offer of a reward for information leading to an arrest.

Police also responded to shootings in the Cauthen Drive area on June 9 and 15.

On July 12, Albert Lemont Huggins, of Cauthen Drive, was arrested Monday and charged in connection to a June 29 in the neighborhood.
