ROCKINGHAM — A man is accused of stealing a lawnmower and trying to sell it.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies took a report from a resident of Back Street, in the Roberdel area, who said his zero-turn riding mower had been stolen and he had seen it for sale online.
Through an investigation, deputies reportedly determined that the mower had been stolen and sold by 51-year-old Larry Dean Martin of Rockingham.
Martin was arrested and charged with one count each of felony larceny, obtaining property by false pretenses and second-degree trespassing.
He is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a combined $16,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on Nov. 22.
Martin still has a pending case for a charge of felony larceny from 2023, court records show.
According to the N.C. Department of Adult Correction, Martin’s only prior conviction in this state was in 1989 for misdemeanor larceny.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
