ROCKINGHAM — Two people are facing drug charges after a multi-agency search reportedly turned up more than $20,000 and 28 grams of cocaine.
According to a press release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant was served at a home on Ravenwood Drive, north of Rockingham, on Wednesday, June 7 as part of an investigation into the selling of illegal narcotics by the home’s occupants.
The warrant was served by the RCSO Community Impact Team, with help from the Special Response Team, the Rockingham Police Department’s Vice/Narcotics Unit and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.
Investigators reportedly found 28.10 grams of cocaine, 13.9 grams of marijuana (less than half an ounce), $21,737 in U.S. currency, assorted drug paraphernalia and a firearm.
Charles Thomas Bloomfield, 37, was arrested and charged with: possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine; felony possession of cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana; simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana paraphernalia; and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Richmond County Jail records show Bloomfield is also charged with two counts of failure to appear on a misdemeanor. He is being held on a combined $125,000 secured bond plus a $5,645.86 cash bond.
Investigators also charged 25-year-old Travina Lache Scott with: possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine; trafficking in cocaine; felony possession of cocaine; two counts of maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Scott was reportedly booked under a $100,000 secured bond, but did not appear to be in the jail just before 1 p.m. on Thursday.
Both Bloomfield and Scott are scheduled to appear in court June 29. Bloomfield had a court appearance Thursday on the FTAs.
Online court records show Bloomfield also has a traffic citation for having no operator’s license.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Bloomfield was first convicted in 2009 of possession with intent to sell a Schedule VI controlled substance. His probation was revoked in 2011 and he was incarcerated for four months.
Bloomfield was convicted in 2012 of simple assault, and in 2015 on misdemeanor charges of child abuse, assault on a female and injury to real property.
Scott was previously convicted in 2017 of assault inflicting serious injury and was given probation.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
