ROCKINGHAM — One person has been taken into custody in a Thursday morning homicide investigation.
Deputies were dispatched to a home on Bed Rock Road, west of Rockingham off of Zion Church Road, around 5:52 a.m. “in reference to a person being shot,” according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies reportedly found one male victim deceased on scene. The victim’s name has not been released.
Deputies also found a male suspect — also not named — in the woods behind the house, according to the sheriff’s office.
According to the press release, one male has been taken into custody and the investigation is continuing and “more details will be released at appropriate time.”
