Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators charge man after looking into allegations of sexual abuse

ROCKINGHAM — A Richmond County man is facing multiple criminal charges related to sexual abuse of a child.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Bryan Seth Brown, of Rockingham, was recently under investigation following allegations of incidents that took place between 2015 and 2017.

The investigation began in January of this year, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators with the sheriff’s office were reportedly “able to develop evidence to obtain warrants for Brown’s arrest.”

Brown was arrested Friday, March 24 and charged with four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and three counts of sexual battery.

He was booked into the Richmond County Jail on a $50,000 secured bond, but appeared to have made bail by Friday night.

Online court records do no yet reflect the charges, so Brown’s court date is unknown at the time of this report.

State records appear to show Brown has no other pending charges or prior convictions.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
