Richmond County teen killed, Hamlet man charged in Aberdeen home invasion

ABERDEEN — Two people are dead, including a Richmond County teen, and a Hamlet man is one of several charged with murder in what Moore County investigators are calling a drug-related home invasion.

According to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call of a reported home invasion at 106 Forest Circle in Aberdeen around 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8.

One of the home’s occupants, 23-year-old Tynasha Collins, was reportedly shot during an exchange of gunfire between the occupants and those breaking in, according to MCSO. Collins subsequently died from her injuries.

One of the suspects, 17-year-old Darius Nicholson, of Richmond County, was also reportedly shot. Investigators say Nicholson had been taken to Moore Regional Hospital by a private vehicle and later died.

The sheriff’s office announced Wednesday that several arrests were made on Oct. 10, with assistance from the Aberdeen Police Department and Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Among those charged is 22-year-old Trevell Semaj Wade of Hamlet, who is charged with two counts of felony murder. Wade is being held without bond in the Moore County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 25.

Investigators say 21-year-old Dajwan Quintaj Monroe was arrested in the eastern part of the state and is charged with murder. Monroe “received no bond with a court date pending his release from a medical facility.” Online court records did not reflect Monroe’s charges on Thursday.

Others charged include 18-year-old Noah Edward Harrington, 21-year-old Jaidon Rafael Lachin Stuckey and 37-year-old Shakeanma Takelia Hubbard, all of Aberdeen. All three are charged with accessory after the fact to murder and are each being held on a $225,000 secured bond.

An unnamed 15-year-old was also taken into secure custody through the N.C. Department of Juvenile Justice on a charge of accessory after the fact.

On Thursday, the sheriff’s office announced that the investigation led to the seizure of:

  • More than 15 pounds of marijuana
  • 241 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
  • 144 grams of oxycodone
  • 125 grams of cocaine
  • 38 grams of THC
  • “Numerous” firearms

Investigators have charged 59-year-old Cynthia Gay Ross and 26-year-old Christopher Kant Verbal in connection to the drug investigation.
Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety show Wade was given an 18-month suspended sentence on Sept. 5.

He was convicted in Moore County on four counts of possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon.

Wade was convicted in 2018 of misdemeanor larceny.
