Rockingham men charged with sexual exploitation

ROCKINGHAM — Two men are facing sex crime charges following a joint investigation between local and state law enforcement.

According to a press release issued March 15, detectives with the Rockingham Police Department, along with agents with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation’s Computer Crimes Unit and Internet Crimes Against Children, executed a search warrant at a local home on March 14 following a months-long investigation.

Police have charged 48-year-old Keenan James Kirkman-Howle with 12 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and 54-year-old Stevenson Eugene Kirkman-Howle Jr. with 10 counts of the same charge.

Each man is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a $500,000 secured bond. They are scheduled to appear in court March 21.

Investigators say the men are married.

No other details are available at this time.

Detectives say the investigation is ongoing and more charges may be pending.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
