ROCKINGHAM — Police are investigating a fight-turned shooting late Friday morning just inside the city limits.
According to investigators with the Rockingham Police Department, two men got into a fight on Mill Road near the intersection with Watson Avenue around 10 a.m.
One of the men allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the other in the leg.
The victim was reportedly taken by a bystander to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond and treated for his injuries. Police say he has since been released.
The suspect, who has not yet been named, reportedly left the scene.
Investigators say the suspect has been identified and arrest warrants have been obtained.
As of 4:50 p.m., the case was still under investigation.
