Rockingham Police investigate parking lot shooting

ROCKINGHAM — Police are still investigating a Wednesday night shooting that sent two people to a hospital.

According to the Rockingham Police Department, a man was walking through the parking lot of the vape shop on the corner of Long Drive and Fayetteville Road the evening of Nov. 1 and subsequently became involved in a “verbal altercation” with individuals sitting inside a vehicle in the lot.

Shots were fired and two individuals were hit, investigators say. Both were reportedly taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

As of 11:20 a.m. Thursday, no charges had been filed and the case was still under investigation.
