Scotland County detectives investigating homicide of Richmond County native

WAGRAM — Investigators with the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office continue working on the homicide of a Richmond County native.

According to a press release, deputies responded to a call of a possible gunshot victim July 29 on Hillcreek Road in Wagram.

When deputies arrived, they reportedly found 30-year-old Kayla Hodges unresponsive with a gunshot wound and she was pronounced dead on the scene.

Deputies reportedly learned during the investigation that two men wearing masks and brandishing firearms entered the home, demanding, “Give it up. You know what this is.”

Hodges was reportedly shot and killed during the incident.

Capt. Randy Dover with SCCO will appear on the television show “On Patrol: Live” on Saturday, Aug. 19 to discuss the case.
