Suspect sought in Hamlet church thefts

HAMLET — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect accused of stealing from a church.

The Hamlet Police Department posted photos to its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon, appearing to show someone in a hooded jacket making off with two potted flowers from Second Baptist Church on 4th Street.

Investigators say they believe the suspect took decorations on two occasions.

The time stamp on the video stills show the first reported theft happened around 5:13 a.m. Oct. 8 and second occurred around 9:46 p.m. Oct. 12.

The suspect is believed to be driving a gold or silver sedan.
