ROCKINGHAM — Three people are facing drug charges after investigators reportedly find meth during a search.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, investigators with the Community Impact Team —along with patrol deputies and deputies from the Traffic Unit, as well as officers with the Rockingham Police Department — executed a search warrant at a Scales Street home Aug. 23.

Investigators obtained the warrant after reportedly receiving complaints of illegal drug activity at the home.

During the search, investigators reportedly found and seized 50.7 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of fentanyl, digital scales, assorted drug paraphernalia, and $375 in cash.

Three people of the home — 47-year-old Bryan Edward Taylor, 55-year-old Roger William Previtte and 50-year-old Valerie Dawn Veach — were all arrested and charged in connection to the search.

(Note: State records appear to show Veach is 53 years old.)

Taylor is charged with: possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine; possession of methamphetamine; maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance; felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Richmond County Jail on a $15,000 secured bond. It appears he has since been bailed out.

Previtte is charged with: trafficking methamphetamine; possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $200,000 secured bond.

Veach is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and is being held on a $5,000 secured bond.

Veach was charged with possession of Sch. II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Veach was processed into the Richmond County Jail under a $5,000 secure bond.

Previtte and Veach are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 9, Taylor’s court appearance is Sept. 12.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Taylor is currently on probation, serving a 12-month suspended sentence, following a February conviction on two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance.

Taylor was previously convicted of maintaining a place for a controlled substance (2002), possession with intent to sell a Schedule VI controlled substance (2003), and driving while impaired (2012).

Previtte is currently on parole until December. Records show he was convicted in January 2023 of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, misdemeanor breaking and entering, and being a prisoner in possession of a weapon. He was released on April 2.

(Note: It appears his prior felony convictions were not in North Carolina.)

In 2007, Previtte was convicted of communicating threats.

Veach also has prior convictions in two counties, records show.

She was first convicted in Richmond County of misdemeanor larceny in 2009, and two counts of uttering a forged instrument in 2010.

Veach served five and a half months in prison in 2012 when she was convicted in Moore County of felony breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.

While serving that sentence, Veach was convicted in Randolph County on five counts of forgery and two counts of uttering a forged instrument.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
