WARRANTS: Men accused of trafficking nearly 200 grams of meth in Richmond County

Samuel Barrington II and Gregory Chad Allen are accused of trafficking a combined 197.7 grams of meth on Aug. 4.

ROCKINGHAM — Two men are facing drug charges for allegedly bringing nearly 200 grams of meth into Richmond County.

According to warrants, 32-year-old Samuel Lee Barrington II, of Sleepy Hollow Drive, south of Rockingham, was in possession of 52.3 grams of methamphetamine and an unspecified amount of heroin, in addition to a digital scale, a 100-gram weight, three straws and a black glove on Aug. 4.

Gergory Chad Allen, 42, of Dusty Trail, Hamlet, reportedly possessed 145.4 grams of meth on the same day. He also allegedly had meth on his person when he was taken to the Richmond County Jail, though the warrant does not specify how much.

Both Barrington and Allen are charged with a felony count of trafficking in methamphetamine.

Barrington also faces a felony charge of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jail records show Barrington also has a parole violation. He was released from prison May 28 after serving nearly 15 months following a 2020 conviction of possessing stolen goods and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. His parole is set to end Feb. 22, 2022.

Barrington is being held under a $250,000 secured bond on the drug charges and without bond on the probation violation.

Allen was also charged with a single felony count of possession of a controlled substance on prison or jail premises.

Records show Allen is also charged in Richmond County with two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance; and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Allen is also being held for failure to appear on a felony in Scotland County, where court records show he faces charges felony larceny and possession of a firearm by a felon; and a failure to appear on a misdemeanor in Randolph County, where he faces traffic violations, including having an open container. He also has traffic violations in Richmond and Scotland counties.

Allen is being held under a combined $396,000 secured bond.

Barrington’s criminal history dates back to 2006 when he was convicted of misdemeanor larceny and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance. He then spent nearly 11 months in prison following a 2008 conviction of common law robbery.

Records show Barrington was again convicted of misdemeanor larceny in 2010, then went back to prison the following year when convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of breaking and entering.

Barrington received probation on a 2017 felony larceny conviction, which was revoked the following year on another felony larceny conviction.

Allen’s only previous conviction was in 2006 for possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance in Randolph County.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
