Woman charged with meth possession, accused of trying to steal battery in East Rockingham

ROCKINGHAM — A woman was reportedly caught with meth after allegedly trying to steal a battery.

Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home on Mill Street on Friday, April 8 after the homeowner reportedly saw a woman trying to steal a car battery, according to a press release issued Monday.

The woman was reportedly identified as 24-year-old Tiffany Lee Parker of Hamlet. She was initially arrested on charges of attempted larceny and second-degree trespassing.

While processing Parker at the Richmond County magistrate’s office, deputies reportedly found 9 grams of suspected meth and a bag of suspected weed.

Parker was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine, simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and was booked into the Richmond County Jail where she is being held under a $25,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in court April 28.

Online court records show an additional paraphernalia charge with a related case number.

Records show Parker also has pending charges of: possession of heroin; simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance; possession of up to a half-ounce of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Parker also has pending traffic citations for driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license and failing to maintain lane control.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Parker has no prior convictions in the state.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
