Concealed carry bill heads to Cooper’s desk

RALEIGH — The N.C. legislature has passed a bill that would allow someone with a concealed carry permit to carry a handgun onto property that is both a church and a school, but only during non-school hours. The bill heads to the desk of Gov. Roy Cooper.

Police Say Hamlet Man Had Weed, Stolen Handguns

HAMLET — A man is facing drug and stolen weapons charges following an undercover narcotics investigation.

The Hamlet Police Department served a search warrant at 804 Ridge Drive Friday morning, finding 14 grams (nearly a half-ounce) of marijuana, five bongs, baggies and rolling papers, according to court documents.
