Jif peanut butter recalled nationwide; NCDHHS urges consumers to check labels
RALEIGH — The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is advising people to not eat or serve certain Jif brand peanut butter products that are being recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination.
NCWRC: Recent drownings reinforce the importance of life jackets
RALEIGH — National Safe Boating Week, as proclaimed by Gov. Roy Cooper, is May 21–27 and officials with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission say that safety should be a top priority when recreating on water. The agency has responded to numerous boating incidents that resulted in drownings in the past few weeks. These incidents may have been avoided if life jackets were worn.
N.C. law enforcement agencies and Mothers Against Drunk Driving continue sobriety campaign
RALEIGH — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, N.C. Highway Patrol and Mothers Against Drunk Driving will kick off the annual “On the Road, On the Water, Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign with community events and safety check points throughout the state in advance of and on Memorial Day weekend.
Treasurer Folwell promotes Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month
RALEIGH — Started by the American Motorcyclist Association in the early 1980s, May has become the month in which motorcycle enthusiasts seek to educate drivers to be aware of motorcycles and to call attention to safety issues affecting motorcycle riding. State Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA, an avid motorcyclist, is asking North Carolinians to look out for motorcycles as people hit the roads for vacations this summer.

March schedule released for Pechmann Fishing Education Center
FAYETTEVILLE — The Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville released its March schedule, which includes both in-person and virtual classes. The education center is managed by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. Each course is led by Wildlife Commission staff or trained volunteers. Most events are free, and a North Carolina fishing license is not required.
