As I drove along our dirt driveway, the dust clouds swirled around the car making me really appreciate that I could close the windows and use the air conditioning. The grass crunched underfoot, and a look at the pond’s low water level confirmed what I already knew; we needed rain!
Cool, refreshing rain is what the parched yard needed. Not long thereafter, a few fat drops began to fall sporadically, but not enough to get excited about. I later went to bed feeling like the air had been let out of my sail. Just a teasing of that desperately needed rain.
Upon waking the following morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see evidence of an overnight soaking! The grass looked greener and the pond was a little higher on its banks. There was an air of freshness surrounding me. The day looked brighter as if it had been cleaned till it sparkled!
Just as this rain brought life back into the grass and plants, lifted the water in the pond and quenched the dry dirt in the driveway, the never ending spring of living water offered by Jesus quenches our parched spirit and brings life back into our heart.
In the book of John, chapter four, verse 14 it states, “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water, springing up into everlasting life.”
His promise is once you accept and drink of this water Jesus provides, it will never run dry. There may be moments of dust but just a cooling swallow of His water quenches all over again!
Let Jesus fill you with His sweet, refreshing and life sustaining water.
“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38
